The Other Boleyn Girl

Based on Philippa Gregory’s historical novel, the “The Other Boleyn Girl” movie will be released on 29 February in the United States and United Kingdom. The movie, which has the tagline “The only thing that could come between these sisters …..is a kingdom,” unveils competition between two sisters, Mary and Anne Boleyn, to win the affections of the Tudor King, Henry VIII. Unfortunately, one of the two sisters will be beheaded for not obeying the law of the land.

Movies.com reports that Natalie Portman portrays Ann, while Scarlett Johannson plays Mary in the movie.

According to The Other Boleyn Girl Review, the movie “is a tale of 16th century court intrigue that chronicles the life of the titular Mary Boleyn, headless Anne’s less often remembered younger sister.”

Mary is presented as a beautiful, easily manipulated girl who is directed by her father and sister to become the king’s mistress. Anne, on the other hand, is best described as a conniving, vicious strategist willing to do anything to attain power. She betrays her sister (repeatedly), achieves the rank of Queen of England, adopts one of her sister’s children (for spite), seduces her brother, and produces an incestuous bastard pregnancy (later miscarried). The Other Boleyn Girl makes the inner workings of Neverland Ranch looks wholesome and welcoming by comparison.

The movie promises to bring something enjoyable for every viewer and even though “The Other Boleyn Girl” has not been released yet, it might well be considered for a few nominations in upcoming movie awards.
