Death Defying Acts
Starring Cathrine Zeta-Jones and Guy Pearce, Death Defying Acts will be released on 13 March 2008. The movie details the life of Harry Houdini, the main character of the movie. Thirteen years after Houdini’s mother has passed away, the thoughts and feelings of not being by her side when she died haunt Houdini to the point where he offers a $10,000 reward to anybody who can contact her beyond the grave.
Wild About Movies reports that at this point Houdini meets the charming Mary McGregor, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones, who uses her feminine wiles in psychic acts to survive.
When Mary and Benji learn of Houdini’s cash reward, they set their sights on the world’s greatest escape artist as their ultimate target. But our hero isn’t such an easy mark, and is protected by his manager Sugarman. As Houdini spends more time with Mary, her charms overwhelm him, and he soon realizes that he’s falling in love with this mysterious woman. Sugarman tries to break up the relationship by offering them money to go away.
According to MoviesOnline, both McGregor and Houdini are faced with one question — “Who is out-conning who?”
They both are attracted to each other.
Mary, a struggling Scottish psychic, and her nine-year-old daughter Benji hear of the offer and decide to out-con Houdini. Instantly bewitched, Houdini is convinced that Mary is who he’s looking for. Mary soon finds herself seduced by Houdini’s charms and drawn into his world of illusion and dark secrets.
