Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Sarah MarshallDirected by Nicholas Stoller, Forgetting Sarah Marshall is set for an 18 April release. The movie stars Jason Segel as Peter Bretter, Kristen Bell as Sarah Marshall, Mila Kunis as Rachel Jansen and Russell Brand as Aldous. The film is a romantic comedy.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall centers on the life of Peter Bretter who falls in love with TV-star Sarah Marshall. The two spend some time together, but Bretter’s happy life comes to an end when Marshall dumps him and finds a new boyfriend. To forget his pain and start a new life, fragile Bretter takes a trip to Hawaii, where he confronts a new disaster; his ex-girlfriend Marshall is on the same resort center with her new boyfriend, Aldous.

Bretter attempts to make his stay enjoyable and take the most out of every second spent in Hawaii. However, Bretter can start a new life only if he forgets Sarah Marshall. Spill.com reports that the movie is penned by Segel and is produced by Judd Apatow.

Later, after attempting to salvage his ego by awkwardly attempting to become a womanizer and nearly losing his job because of a nervous breakdown, an emotionally fragile Peter attempts to put the past behind him by escaping to the sun-soaked beaches of Oahu. While at first it seems as if Peter has discovered the perfect prescription for a bad case of unrequited love, his plan soon turns to dust when Sarah and her new, rock star boyfriend Aldous (Russell Brand) turn up at the exact same resort.

As the post on According To Alanna says, “the movie is laugh-out-loud funny and can be an even better remedy for those whose winter depressions are still lingering on well into the Springtime.”

The only suggestion I have for those who enjoy nitpicking at movies with little to no substance is to just not analyze anything about it! Yes, there are scenes that completely contradict each other, and characters that are not fully developed, but the point of ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ isn’t to bring the audience an Oscar-worthy cinematic masterpiece (no offense, Jason), but to bring genuine laughter to the home front instead.

Here is the official trailer. Enjoy!
