Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D

Journey to the center of the earth 3DMost of us has read the books by the pioneer of science-fiction, Jules Verne. Countless films have been based on his works written well over a century ago. Now, another one is coming to the screens on July 11.

Directed by Eric Brevig and Starring Brendan Fraser, Josh Hutcherson and Anita Briem, Journey to the Center of the Earth is also going to be the first digital live-action 3D film. DisplayDaily reports what that actually means.

In order to create 3D digital cinema content, stereoscopic images must be created. While the technology to create these images has indeed advanced, 3D image capture is still found to create unique problems. Reflecting on the process of creating the film, Jonas Thayler, Vice President of Post Production AFG/Walden Media stated, “At the end of the post production workflow, much of which we designed ourselves, we found we needed more sophisticated noise reduction than our tools could provide.”

Back to the film and Fraser, a scientist attempting to discover what happened to his missing brother, along with his nephew and mountain guide discover a hidden message in an ancient artifact which leads them to the center of the world. Well, you know the story and you’ve seen adaptations before, so you know that this means another world full of fantastic and dangerous creatures.

The fact that this will also be the first digital live-action 3D film is also another reason to check the movie out. Until then, enjoy the trailer.
