If you’re planning to catch only a few movies to watch at theaters this this summer, Righteous Kill should probably be one of them. Directed by Jon Avnet, the movie stars two legendary veterans, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.

Both award winning actors are worth seeing together, although they’re not the only reason to watch the movie as rap singer 50 Cent will also star. Anyway, the crime/drama is about two veteran detectives trying to discover the connection between a recent murder and a case they had thought solved. In particular, they wonder if a serial killer lies behind the murders and if they sent the wrong man to prison.

The film’s release is set for September 12th and Righteous Kill might prove to be one of the best films of 2008. On the other hand, BifSniff thinks that the trailer of 88 Minutes, which screenwriter Russell Gewirtz also worked, on bears some striking similarities with Righteous Kill.

The trailer for 88 Minutes has a similar feel to the Righteous Kill one. I’m hoping on both counts that the trailers have been designed to miss-lead the audience a little but I’m fearing the worst at the same time.
